WHO ARE STRAY CATS PRESS WHEN THEY'RE AT HOME?

STRAY CATS PRESS is a small press and creative organization focused on zinemaking and independent publishing.

Established by Irish artist and writer Clara Belaire, STRAY CATS PRESS operates with a view to making zine creation a more sociable, collaborative and accessible experience. STRAY CATS PRESS launched their first event in Montreal, CA in 2023 - a bimonthly zine club held in Champs, a gay sports bar on Saint Laurent Boulevard.

Here, participants were provided with everything they needed to make a zine - paper, glue, pens and pencils, magazines for collaging. Clara provided some rudimentary folding techniques and the club took off. Friends were made and first dates navigated. It was a good time.

STRAY CATS PRESS puts an emphasis on the traditional, down-and-dirty, anything-goes ethos of zinemaking. Hence their unofficial slogan, ‘ANYTHING CAN BE A ZINE’. Leave your standards of good and bad at the door - you don’t need to be a pro. You don’t even need to know how to fold paper. All you need is to want to try.You never know what might happen.
